Itinerary description
This trail leads to the remains of picturesque Aghjkaberd fort ( Աղջկաբերդ ) by longer and way more interesting way, from Hovk village ( Հովք գյուղ ), Tavush province, Armenia.
Some information about the trail:
- This trail is perfect for those who like spectacular views and forest hikes.
- This trail is one of the trails which connects with TCT trails, so you can start it both from Hovk and join from another trail that comes from Haghartsin to Hovk.
- The trail is considered to be blazed, but you'll rarely meet marks on the way, GPS is must here.
- Main part of the way you hike by vehicle traces. First part of the trail you go up, the mid part you go down and the most challenging part is a steep way to the fort and down to the traces again. The trail ends in Dilijan-Ijevan highway.
- The way to fort up to the hill has very confusing parts, as there is only tiny path so be careful not to lose it, GPS is must here(especially in winter and autumn, when leaves and snow can make it hidden).
- The best season for this trail is May, June (greenery, not to warm)and October (colorful autumn period), Though this is one of the all-seasons trails.
