Itinerary description

This is not an easy hike due to the ascent/descent components, but it's not a hard hike either. The key is to pace yourself and when you get above the treelike, don't take the paths that go straight up, just zigzag.

If you will do that you will find this isn't actually that hard a hike. The forest is beautiful and you get a great sense of achievement reaching the top.

We detoured near the beginning/end to see the 'energy well'. There are a lot of mystical beliefs around Rtanj, which make this hike more intriguing.

I would not do the hike after rain or in the middle of summer or winter - extreme temperatures or mud would make this hike much more challenging. April/May or September/October would be perfect times to climb Rtanj!

Oh, and you can shorten this hike and start/finish at the carpark (second flag), which would make the whole hike 11 km return.

Nice trail and challenging. If you plan to do it in the summer, don’t forget to bring plenty of water (2l+). Appropriate outfit will help too
