Itinerary description
The trail begins pretty rocky but with easy grades heading out from Horsethief Spring. Be sure to resupply water there. It's probably best to treat/filter it though it tasted fine to me (I drank over a gallon of it in a couple of days). The rocky trail smooths out along the way and includes a 400ft switchback climb. I met two GPS-toting hounds from the Jim Hamilton Correctional Center while I was hiking - nice dogs, definitely on a mission. I wonder who they were tracking or were they just practicing?
