Itinerary description

Nice option; good variety of terrain and views. Works best as going to Sahallie Falls first; mostly shade on trail, then Umbrella Falls leg from falls to trailhead later in the day as it's more exposed. As always, plenty of people on any trail that has "Falls" in the name (more on the Umbrella leg). No one on the spur up to the intersection of Timberline Trail; excellent views of Hood. Several spectacular wildflower meadows in mid-August. Best view of Sahallie Falls is after hike is over, by continuing to drive up road 3545 leaving the trailhead and stopping at old bridge before heading on to US 35. Like most east side trails, dusty if no recent rain.
