Itinerary description
Includes an extension to check out the Salmon Butte Traihead.
Beautiful walk; along the river the entire way except for two very brief jogs up to the road. Big old-growth trees, fern understory, spectacular water flow. Not very busy middle of the week in late August, but could be crowded on weekends. Several campsites occupied, but discrete. Very little road noise. Except for brief steep initial stretch, essentially flat walk on good trail.
Trail continues as Salmon River Trail #742 at south end.
Access from Highway 26 down Salmon River Road for 2.7 miles
