Itinerary description

Nice if rather strenuous trail. Pretty medium mature fir/spruce forest, with blueberry, rhododendron, bear grass understory. First ¾ mile has road noise from Hwy 26, but remainder of trail is very quiet and serene; only one other party on the trail on the August Wednesday afternoon we hiked. First two miles moderate grade; after Hidden Lake, moderately severe relentless uphill. When trail meets first of two streams at two miles, go right a short bit along south bank of stream to find easier crossing over logs. Push through rhododendrons after crossing stream to view the small lake, then go back along north bank to rejoin trail. Second stream is easy to cross. Top of trail joins portion of Timberline Trail; pretty small meadows to recoup and eat lunch. Could go west on Timberline then take Paradise Park trail back down, but would be 13 mile loop.
Directions; easy access from Hwy 26; Kiwanis Camp road (FR 2639 ) for 2.2 miles to trailhead, plenty of parking and Port-a-let.
