Itinerary description
A very nice hike, spoiled only by the dreadful final drive to the Bonney Meadow trailhead. Good variety of terrain, moderate uphills, two lakes and great views along the ridge line (shared with bikes). Campground, Boulder Lake and trail in between fairly busy on lovely first Saturday in August, but little traffic on trail thereafter. Little Boulder Lake much better lunch option with no one around. 80% shady trail.
See "Hood - Bonney Meadow/Boulder Lake" for 8 mile in/out option that starts from paved road.
Access at Bonney Meadow trailhead; final 3.9 miles takes 25-30 minutes on miserable dirt track; not suitable for passenger cars; small SUVs okay. Alternative access possible: http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Bonney_Meadows_to_Boulder_Lakes_Hike
