Holyrood Park is a royal park in the center of Edinburgh, one mile east of Edinburgh Castle. It is made up of a set of hills, lakes, ravines and basalt cliffs.
We started from a car park near Holyrood Palace. Once there it is easy to guess the route to the summit. We see a constant coming and going of people who want to enjoy the views from Arthur's Seat ('Arthur's seat') which is the highest peak of the set of hills and provides a great panoramic view of the city.
Our goal was to go up at sunset to enjoy the views and then descend the opposite side looking for the Sheep Heid Inn Edinburgh restaurant, which a Scottish friend had recommended to us.
The plan could not have gone better, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset, with a blue sky as if we were in Andalusia. We had a wonderful dinner and to return we took an Uber to the hotel in the Old City for £7.
