Spectacular combination of circuits at the foot of Mont Taranaki from the parking lot of the Visitor Center National Park Edmont / Taranaki.
The ascent of the Holly Hut path is direct with native vegetation, with many wooden stairs that make you much easier to climb, while curbing the erosion of fragile volcanic terrain. We pass through a monument and we head to a good viewpoint, where we can see on clear days: The same volcano and part of the Tasman Sea coast.
We make stairs to flank west towards the private refuge or lodge: Tahurangi lodge. We can see basalt walls and we will even cross a piece of glacial. Once in the refuge, you will touch down a piece of Summit Track for cement and we will break into the beautiful, long track of Maketawa Track, through the free hut with a panoramic terrain that is worth seeing.
The forest and the roots are very important in the final part of the journey.
