Itinerary description
Did this one with my brother in law, Hreiðar. Mt. Högnhöfði is close to mountain road F337 and only about 4km from Mt. Hlöðufell. We had very good weather calm, clear sky and about 10°C. View was outstanding and mountains and glaciers all around. Amongst other mountains one can see, Skriða, Skriðutinda, Rauðafell, Skjaldbreiður and on and on. The hike itself was quite easy, loose rocks in the beginning but there is kind of path there so if one follows that it´s easier. Great landscape where river Brúará has it´s origin can also been seen. To get there a four wheel drive is necessary and better to have a GPS since the landscape and lack of sign can easily get one lost.
