Itinerary description
A trek around the hills above Tropea, visiting Gasponi and Drapia. There is quite a bit of road, so avoid on a hot day.
The ascent to the top of the hill above Caria is tough work and no views so not worth it.
Like the other trail in this area I didn't take the correct route through the gorge. The route as shown ends up in a farm with a large gate blocking the way; which is a pity as the path along the gorge is lovely (I cut through an olive grove and had to jump off a high wall). The correct route is not to cross the stream at the bottom of the gorge, walk around the pump building and pick up a faint track which follows the valley floor back to the bridge between Gasponi and Drapia.
You can drive up to Gasponi if you want to shorten the walk, you can park opposite the Pizzeria.

Easy to follow
Scenery
Moderate
Not difficult to walk, but sometimes hard to find. The trail is not marked at all. A long way along trafficked roads. Some nice scenery over Tropea and the surroundings, but what struck me the most was all the garbage along the way. Loads of it almost everywhere! A shame.
