Itinerary description
Hiking - Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos.
Located in the southern area of the city of Teresópolis, the Pousada Chamonix was chosen for its walking distance vicinity to the park entrance.
Inside the park, visitors are not allowed to venture beyond the Barragem (dike) point unless registered for specific hikes. Most popular is the Travessia Trail to Petropolis which normally requires two overnight stays at cabins (abrigos). Setting the limit to the Barragem was anyway a chance for a good day worth of hikes. Despite the rainy day, we followed the road to Barragem and descended via a canopy walk, then took the trilhas (trails) to the spot of Cartão Postal (postcard) and Mozart, a spot named after a Brazilian mountaineer with a view over Teresopolis.
Tips:
Cartão Postal offers a magnificent view over the Dedo de Deus (God's Finger). and it's the most interesting trail here.
