Itinerary description
Hiking - Barrett Spur lies on the north side of Mount Hood between Ladd and Coe glaciers.
About 1000 m (3,280 ft.) elevation gain through the Vista Ridge Trail then an (unnamed?) way to the spur.
Lots of flowers, ripe huckleberry to taste, beautiful Silver Forest, great views of Mt. St. Helens (97 Km or 60 mi. away), Mt. Rainier (161 Km or 100 mi. away) and Mt. Adams (91 Km or 57 mi. away), and stunning close-up on glaciers on Mt. Hood's north side.
Clear day, and despite smoke from several wildfires in the Northwest, even Mt. Rainier seemed very close. Unfortunately the photos don't pay justice.

Tried to make the hike on September 23rd. Beautiful sunny day, but unfortunately snow stopped me already at roughly 1600m. On the way back ran into a bear.
