Itinerary description

We hired a boat in Taganga to ferry us to Bahia Concha and then we followed this trail back to Taganga. There are several gps tracks on Wikiloc showing this same trail and that is why we chose this trip.
You will have to negotiate the boat trip. Pricing is subject to whatever you can get someone to agree to.
The last part of the trip was really rough in the boat, but the captain of our small launch was good and had no problems getting us safely to shore.
Once on shore you need to find the trail without getting noticed by the people in the tent at the end of the beach.
If you look for signs of where people have gone inland and go inland a bit (only back over the dune a little out of direct sight of the tent) , then you can follow that to the right will pick the obvious trail that follows the gps track.
We were in shorts. It was fairly hot as well, but manageable if you are in reasonable shape and have water.
The trail was obvious, but a bit overgrown in a few places. There were lots of sticker tree limbs, bushes, etc., and we all had a few scratches, but nothing major, just part of the fun of the hike.
Once on the beach where the trail goes away from the water and towards Taganga, you will have to find the trail. There are cows around and they have wondered all over making the trail less the obvious.
We navigated by moving directly off the beach, just beside the building set back from boat that is on the beach (or was when we were there), following the most obvious trail, which did change here and there as you will not be absolutely positive you are on the correct trail. Trying to use our gps to make a path directly towards Taganga was the plan. Once the terrain turned up hill we angled to the right and found the trail in a small ravine. Once you find the main trail when the terrain starts uphill you will know it. That trail was obvious.
We followed that to the ridge and down into Taganga.

It was a great hike.

The guys on the beach we were negotiating with told us that we couldn't hike because there wasn't a trail, then that it was too hot (it was mid day and around 90, so it was hot), then it was dangerous (we only saw one person and he was on the beach with the cows and told us to head up by the building to find the trail. He was very nice).

Of course this isn't a maintained trail and so your experience might vary from ours. Definitely make your own decisions. We are a family of 4 from Colorado (2 parents 2 teens), live at altitude, and are all in really good shape. I say this just to give you an idea of who we are if it might help you when deciding.
