Itinerary description
Hiking - A few ledge rocks can be found in this area of the Maira Valley,. The most notorious is called Fremo Concona' which, in local Occitan language, means "Crouching Lady" for its profile may resemble such a shape - which I couldn't see despite trying.
This hike also touches Mount Bettone summit from which the excellent weather allowed a superb panoramic view. The sheer wall of Mount Bettone is quite impressive when seen from the proximity of Fremo Concona'. St. John's Chapel is a fine round building but it's locked, although one can enjoy the nearby pic-nic table and drinking fountain.
There isn't much dolomitic rock in Piemonte but some can be seen here.
Up the narrow road going to Elva from Stroppo in the Maita Valley, parking is possible by the pedestrian-only hamlet of San Martino Superiore although there are only some 10-12 total spots. An option would be to keep driving and try to park by Colle Bettone (see waypont).
