Itinerary description
Hiking - Almost all fresh snow from last week gone. Clear sunny day.
Clockwise loop going up the small natural amphitheater from Vallo proved warmer than expected until at the pass where cold wind was noted. There's an open-sided roofed shelter at the pass with two tables and benches. No wind from this point onwards.
The amphitheater is generally protected from the prevailing northwestern winds and quite hot in summer, making it an ideal destination during fall season.
The loop then leads to Mount Turu, and on to Mount Corno - which we skipped this time - requiring only a short back-and-forth deviation.
For the less-experienced hikers, to and from the pass via the same way would be the best option, as closing this loop otherwise requires attention for the uneasy terrain and for the trail can be difficult to find - due to shrubs/vegetation/grass. It may require some scrambling even if following this GPS track.
