Looks like a trail I would like to try. A nice pics on Flinkr, but do you have a bit more info:
1. There seems to be a house or something at the starting point. Is it possible to stay overnight there? Or at least a secure place to park a car while doing this trail?
2. How long is the drive from Jacmel? (It's seems about 70km, but probably takes 2 hours?)
3. I've done some more high trails in other tropical counties. Is it here very cold as well early in the morning?
4. Any recommendations on equipment etc?
I hope you can give me the details as I would really like to give this one a try.

1. there is the base of the forest protection poject of the helvetas, a swiss ngo. They used to have beds and camping space for guests but stopped hosting beginning of 2013. However the guesthouse should be reopened by now. I guess the staff will allow you to park your car if you ask them friendly.
I can find out the contact details of the project if you want me to.
2. It's more than 2h! The road is quite bad and only accessible with a good 4x4. I remember it to be about 7h of driving from pap in total.
3. It's chilly but not below 0. Bring a jacket!
4. Bring a GPS, the tracks are not marked. Or even better: Hire a forest guard from the project as a guide. He will assure your safety and you contribute to the success of the project. He can also give you some interesting details on the forest and the challenges that are involved in protecting it.
Have fun!

After 2 years, I'm back in Haiti and this time I managed to finally do this hike.
As the description of this hike was rather short, I've created 2 new entries on Wikiloc:
1. The drive from Marigot the start of the hike: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=11300616
2. The short version of the hike to the summit: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=11300693
From these 2 tracks, you can see that you can drive much closer to the summit and hike around 8km to the summit and back. If you leave early enough from Marigot, you can make it to the summit and back in one day.
Staying overnight at the lodge will make it a nicer trip, but if you're a bit short on time, it can be done in 1 day.
