Itinerary description
Noori waterfall is a refreshing place beautiful waterfall that has turquoise water to give your pictures that Instagram look. This water fall was discovered less then 5 years ago and it was banned in 2020 after two boys drowned in it due to inexperience and unusual higher waters post monsoon season.
Also another problem with us is swimming either with over confidence or without proper care. One of the boy who drowned had his shalwar tangled in the bushes as per the man who rents out life jackets at the waterfall.
Since then people wear life jackets before entering in the water. Waterfall drops couple of meters into a pool. In the dry months of May and June water is gradual and pool is only deep on the sides but as monsoon starts, water level rises significantly and whole pool and even the rest of cave becomes deep. An estimate gives a 15-20 feet depth of water in the main pool where waterfall drops. As we went in April after rain spell water was again of the same high level.
So always wear life jacket.
And once you tighten your life jacket, there is no fear. You can float, swim and even jump.
Many first comers went into the water and had time of their lives even in the deepest parts of the pool.
Water is so beautiful that you can't resist stepping or diving into it.
There are small fish in the water outside the caves.
Noori waterfall is a breath taking waterfall only 50 km from Islamabad.
Driver however takes 3 hours due to curvy roads and the last patch where we have to drive on a very narrow road.
By the end of it there are two parking spots which charge Rs 200 for cars.
They also rent out the life jackets at Rs 100. But as this was off season so we got jacket in Rs 50.
After which there is a 15-20 minutes scenic hike by the side of the river. with beautiful views of vegetation and the hills.
There is a cave in the middle of the Haroo river, in low water days you can go there but since the water was high, we did not try reaching there.
People are really nice and hospitable.
Precautions.
1. Don't take cars with low road clearance as the final road stretch is sort of "off-road".
2. Reach early to leave early as after the 12 pm, place gets packed.
3. Not suitable for family as there are no washrooms available at the waterfall.
