Itinerary description
This is a very flat walk (deliberately) from part of Tomar near the old abandoned factory along a strip of land by the Nabão river to a weir. The weir was built at the end of the 18th century (on the spot of an old bridge) to divert the water into a canal which serviced a large factory, The factory, Real Fábrica de Fiação de Tomar, was a wool spinning mill. It flourished in the 19th century as evident by its size and the workers' buildings all around. The stretch of land along the trail borders the Campo - which was used to raise crops on the Nabão flood plain.
