Itinerary description
Great hike on both the Atlantic coast with the Côte Sauvage and on the coast of the Baie de Quiberon. Start at the train station of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, where you can also park. You can find something to eat and drink in Portivy and Saint-Pierre-Quiberon. The hike is along cliffs which requires steady footing on some places. No swimming allowed on the Côte Sauvage. The stretch on the beach along the Baie de Quiberon may be difficult at very high tide.
From the start you walk along minor roads through Kergroix towards the Côte Sauvage. A path takes you to a viewpoint between the beach at Port Bara and Port Rhu. The view is great here with the usually wild waves, the cliffs and the beaches. You then follow the Sentier Côtier north past Port Rhu to the beach at Port Blanc, with several viewpoints on the way, among others of the Arche de Port Blanc. You descend to the beach with the small dunes, and then ascend towards de Point du Percho. You continue to the peninsula with cape Beg-en-Aud. You make a tour on the peninsula, and then follow the coastal path to Portivy. You can take a break at the harbor where you can find several restaurants. You then walk away from the coast in the village, and take a path which takes you past the Fontaine de Lotivy to the Chapelle de Loc-Dewy. From here, you go east first along a road and then on path to the east side of the peninsula, passing the railway en-route. You cross the main road and walk to the end of the dead-end street Impasse du Lizeau. You end up at the beach and follow this beach south towards Saint-Pierre-Quiberon. At very high tide the beach may be submerged. At the end of the beach you take a path that takes you along smaller cliffs around the cape Beg Quilvi. The path is small between walls and the cliffs. Around the corner you find the beach of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon. You continue to follow the path past the beach to the Rue Pasteur, and then walk back through the village to the starting point at the station. You could walk a bit further along the waterfront if you want something to eat or drink, before you turn inland.
