Itinerary description
Allegedly the inspiration for Dickens' Great Expectation; this is a flat and somewhat wet exploration of the marshes with a detour to Cliffe Fort. On the way back, we walked along the railway line as the path through the fields was waterlogged. Suggest that you don't do this unless you know that there's no rail traffic. This being a Sunday, we thought was ok, especially as we met the local farmer who was himself walking that way.
