Itinerary description
At 630 this morning I looked up from making my breakfast and coffee to see a momma grizzly and her cub running along the far side of the lake! They were being flushed out of the bush by a guy and his girlfriend driving back and forth on the adjacent road trying to get video. Appalling. The cub was so cute curiously standing up to see what the issue was. These animals are truly magnificent and we need to leave them alone.
Leaving Buller you ascend straight up to rejoin the HRT. It becomes clear early that today won’t be as strenuous as yesterday. Another beautiful day rolling along the trail until dropping down to the lake side to finish the last 3 or 4 kms before crossing the dam to the campground. The wind was blowing pretty hard here as you can see in the photo. I was being pelted by the loose gravel from the road!
