Hidden Vlei 2019-05-27

Depuis le camp de Sesriem, suivre la route D826 vers Sossusvlei. Après 60km environ, se garer à la fin de la route goudronnée au parking de Hidden Vlei.

From Sesriem Camp, follow the road D826 to Sossusvlei. After 60km, park at the end of the tarred road at the Hidden Vlei car park.

Aucune difficulté. Loin de la foule de Big Daddy, Dead Vlei et Big Mama, cette randonnée très facile est hautement recommandée ! Pour amateur de solitude, dans un décor tout aussi majestueux que ses illustres voisines !

Depuis le parking, repérer la pancarte indiquant le début de la randonnée vers le sud.
Suivre l'itinéraire qui remonte lentement au fond d'une vaste cuvette. Des piquets, assez espacés et pas toujours très visibles, indiquent le chemin.
Au bout de la cuvette, obliquer sur la droite pour gravir la dune qui surplombe Hidden Vlei. Descendre dans la dépression et s'y promener à sa guise pour profiter du magnifique paysage.
Remonter sur la dune et revenir vers le parking par le même chemin, avec la possibilité de suivre la crête de la dune qui longe le flanc ouest de la dépression.

From the car park, locate the sign indicating the beginning of the hike to the south.
Follow the path that slowly climbs through the bottom of a large bowl. Stakes, fairly spaced and not always very visible, indicate the way.
At the end of the bowl, turn to the right to climb the dune overlooking Hidden Vlei. Go down into the trough and walk around as much as you like to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Go up on the dune and return to the car park by the same path, with the possibility to follow the ridge of the dune that runs along the west side of the bowl.
