This is located right side of the Jais Road, after “Bear Grylls Explorers Camp”.
From this parking spot, you can see a road in a steep hill, going downwards. You can park the car in the end of the steep hill also.
Any car can reach both parking spots and there are enough parking places for 10+ vehicles.
Once you and in the down of this steep hill, need to go towards the left side. After sometime, you will see a “Jebel Jais Hiking Trails” wooden board.
This is the starting point of the hike.
Route options:
What we have realized later, the hike can be divided in to 2 main sections.
First section is from this starting point to Dam.
Second section is from dam to the hidden oasis.
You have 2 route options to go in the first section (Starting point to Dam).
1. Going via Balcony walk
2. Going via dirt – offroad road
Both routs go parallel, Balcony walk is on top of the dirt road and connected back to the dirt road right next to the dam.
Second section - From dam, all the way to hidden oasis, is a single trail.
While ascending we went via Balcony walk and in descend we came back via the dirt road.
Balcony walk:
Balcony walk starts right next to the “Jebel Jais Hiking Trails” wooden board.
From the down, it looks like challenging, but when you actually going it, its not that difficult.
You can experienced the nice views of the dirt road in the down and Jais street area.
Dam:
Balcony walk ends in the small concrete dam. From there it’s a single route all the way to hidden oasis.
Hidden oasis:
Large, flat area surrounded by mountains and full of greenery. This was a long pending hike and it was so nice to experience it.
Going further beyond Hidden oasis:
We could see across the hidden oasis, a trail is continuing through the edges of the mountain to upwards. We climbed small distance of this trail to get some Aerial view photos of the oasis.
Returning back:
We came back on the same route till the dam and from there we took the dirt road back to the car park.
Overall:
It was a very good, interesting hike.
Once you are in starting point, all the way to hidden oasis, path is very clear and proper signatures are everywhere to guide you.
You don’t need any map/any other help, simply can follow the marked trail. And the trail is well-constructed with concreate steps/supports wherever required.
We started the hike by 0645. It took us 2 hrs to reach the oasis. Return trip took us around 1.5 hrs. All with small breaks in between and photo shoots.
Mobile coverage was there all the way. We came across near 10+ other hiking groups. Seems everyone wants to rushing there to experience it before the summer.
