Itinerary description
Part one of two day hike in the Heinabergsjökull area. The first part is quite boring on a dirt road then it gets more interesting as you approach the glacial lagoons. There is a glacial river that needs to be forded in order to continue. Quite a cold experience :) but perfectly doable. There is a marked path by the Vatnajökull National Park E4. The whole hike is doable in one day, but we given the weather, we decided to break it into two parts. We spent the night in a tent in the glacial valley at the endpoint of this trail.
