This is one of the most photographed places in Arkansas. It’s called Hawksbill in reference to the shape of the large protruding rock you hike to. On the way, there is a waterfall you can hike down to but it is steep, rocky and very narrow in a couple spots. Definitely need to be very cautious if you decide to go down and see it.
There is a great spot to photograph people on Hawksbill shortly before you get to it. You walk on this little side trail out to a tree and you have a perfect view of it. We had another hiker take our photo. Then we returned the favor. Great place to relax, have lunch, then hike back to the start.
It is a longer hike. Ok for older kids and dogs (just show a lot of caution as you are over 2000 feet up!!!)
As usual, the road to it is very narrow and steep to go up. Recommend truck, SUV or 4 wheel drive. Some areas have only enough room for one car at a time, so be patient and polite!! There is an actual parking area. Not handicapped accessible and no bathrooms.
