Itinerary description
This trail leads to Havuts Tar which is aged from 11th to 13th century. But, actualy we can't call it "monastery" now as it's only ruins remained there. In spring time it's a quite popular hiking trail near Garni temple.
~~~What you should know about this trail?~~~
---The way to Havuts tar is easy, you go by vehicle traces. BUT the returning way is quite ''wild'' and steep, you can easily loose the way without GPS also ,so if you are for ''comfortable hiking'' it's better to return by the same way.
--- BE CAREFUL WITH SEASON HERE! This way is beautiful only in right season, don't go there in summer, it's not only unbearable hot but also dangerous because of the snakes. Hike here only in springtime (March, April, May).
--- A big piece of this trail is a part of Khosrov national reserve.
--- After passing the bridge you can be stopped by Khosrov Reserve's security' team (I don't know why, but sometimes they decide not let people in for some period of time).
--- From Havuts Tar monastery you'll have marvelous view of Azat gorge and Eragagat (Եռագագաթ) peak of Gegham mountains (Գեղամա լեռներ).
--- This trail is not marked. Maybe you'll see some marking signs, but there are so few that it doesn't count.
--- The length of this trail is 11 km.
Проходили этим маршрутом до Хавуц Тара в конце марта, возвращались тем же путем, которым пришли. Маршрут достаточно простой, но я бы не назвал легкой прогулкой из-за подъема на гору. Возвращаться значительно проще. Виды красивые: горы, луга, цветущие кустарники, можжевеловый лес! На подъеме, сразу после моста, видели змею, так что будьте аккуратнее
