Beatiful hiking from Hanga Roa, the main, - and only -, Easter island town, to Rano Kau volcano, located on the most southwestern point of the island, with a 1.5km wide crater. The track is easy to follow from Hanga Roa, starting by the sea and suddenly getting more steep. It continues between bush and low trees that rapidly change into small grass. The views from the top are worth visiting it. Once on the top, it's easy to get to Orongo ancient ceremonial town, where Rapa Nui settlers had the birdman race, a yearly competition aimed to define the ruler clan of the island.
