Itinerary description
Despite what a few other trail posts state, this is not an easy walk/hike. Given the rough, uneven terrain and the fact most of it involves you ascending or descending, I would not class this as an easy hike at all - though I should add that we are both 50 and although we walk 8-10kms five or six days of the week, this one was tough.
The views and the scenery are spectacular though so it is worth it. We headed left from the car park at Halls Gap. The route to the Pinnacle is well laid out and easy to follow. As you emerge from the trees though near the summit the path disappears so keep an eye out for the yellow triangles on the rocks. In the 90 mins up to the Pinnacle we only met a handful of people - the Pinnacle was a different story. At least 50 people scattered around. It seems most people drive to the Wonderland car park and walk the 2.4kms to the Pinnacle.
We followed the trail back to the Wonderland car park and then beyond back to Halls Gap. The Canyon was closed and are aching legs meant we skipped the Splitter Falls. This last leg was very quiet, following the river with lots of watering holes - though still a few ups and downs and rocky sections.
