Itinerary description
Started 9:10am from Eorimok Trail. Ended 14:15pm at Yeongsil Trail.
These trails do not lead to the peak, but to the 1,700m mark. (The trails to the peak - Gwaneumsa n Seongpanak - require permit)
An impromptu hike with my aching knee. It’s freaking cold. The trail up via Eorimok is quiet, not much hikers. Yeongsil is busier as it’s also shorter (but steeper), with better views.
Super slippery at some parts of the trail as snow has melted, and the trail becomes icy. Doable as it’s mostly wooden planks and stairs. Needs crampons during winter or the rangers will refuse entry to the trail.
The trails are clearly marked. Walked an extra 2.5km (not logged) to reach the bus stop at the Yeongsil Ticket Office to take bus 240 back to civilization.
First solo trans hike in a foreign country. First hike in an almost-snowy trail.
An awesome, unforgettable experience! The view is amazing, especially Yeongsil.
