Itinerary description
Gwanaksan
Gwanaksan (관악산) or Mt. Gwanak is located in Seoul. Interesting locations on the trail
- Observation deck (P-07)
- Gukkibong (Gukgibong) Peak (P-09) 525 m
- Yeonjuam Hermitage (temple) and the three-story stone pagoda (P-16)
- Yeonjudae Platform (대한불교조계종 연주대) (P-18, P-19). It is probably the most scenic part of the hike. It is a platform built atop a steep cliff of Gwanaksan 629 m with a Buddhist worship hall.
- Malbawi observatory (meteorological observatory)
- Gwaneumbong peak (P-19)
- Hamabawi peak 331 m (P-22)
- Geobukbawi peak 330m (P-26)
Difficulty
It is a beginner+/moderate hike. There is no problem finding a way since there are many signs on the trail. The trail is well organized. There is no boulder hopping, scrambling, climbing, abseiling, exposed walking on edges, etc. Briefly, it is safe and clear as usual in South Korea. The trail is 10+ km long with 800+ m elevation gain which requires good stamina.
Public transportation
To get to the trailhead come to Indeogwon Station (인덕원) of Line 4. After that, it takes about 10 minutes of walking to reach the trailhead located at 37.410399, 126.965265. After finishing the hike, you will have to walk about 10 mins to reach Sadang station (사당) of Line 2. So, it is easily accessible by metro.
Gear
It significantly depends on the season. For the end of October, you need:
1) High-cut hiking shoes
2) 1.5 liters of water, electrolytes
3) fleece jacket
4) windbreaker
5) gloves to hold installed security rails and ropes
6) headlamp in case you finish after sunset (you never know)

Thanks for posting this hike! I enjoyed it a lot. Even though there are signs i did use the wikiloc trail quite a lot to choose the right path. It took me 4.20 hours to complete with few breaks. The metro station is a bit more than 10 minutes away, i would say between 15 and 20 minutes.
