Itinerary description
From the streets of Ajijic head for El Tepalo Waterfall (occasionally it actually has water - good luck!)where you might want to hunt for El Tepalo Geocache and enjoy a great view down the ravine. Now go west, perhaps stopping at The Saddle for a rest. Next stop: the Indian Ceremonial Grounds where the Danza del Sol is performed once a year by native peoples who come from all over Mexico and other countries. They dance while fasting from all food and water (for four days and nights!), roast inside a very hot temazcal (Sweat Lodge) and undergo a skin piercing ceremony that is beyond belief. For more info, see the classic movie A Man Called Horse.
Waypoints

Danza del Sol
Danza del Sol ceremonial site. Originally there were two hills here. Indigenous people worked long and hard to create the wide, flat meadow. You'll get a great view of the lake from here.
End Hike
End hike on on CalleTempisque. You made it back to the Lake!

Easy to follow
Scenery
Moderate
Getting down from Danza del Sol, is a rocky path, could get slippery if raining, overall very good route with nice views and in tree shadow most of the time
