Itinerary description

Day Two of a two day hike up Mount Sterling, though conditions prevented us from returning down Baxter Creek Trail as originally planned.

We attempted to continue from Swallow Fork Trail up to Mt Sterling / Camp 38 and down Baxter Creek as originally planned, but the 18+ inches of unbroken snow (6 more overnight) turned us back. So we reversed back the way we came instead. Marking this downhill hike as "easy" because, once we got below ~4500 feet, breaking a path in the fresh snow was no longer an effort!

9.67 miles, 499 foot elevation gain
