Itinerary description
We did this hike as an alternative to Hanging Lake. The city of Glenwood Springs has figured out a way to charge $12 per person to hike to Hanging Lake, but this one is no charge (yet). This hike was mostly along side a rushing creek. We enjoyed the scenery. The map references a "diversion dam" but we went as far as the trail went and didn't see the dam. We left at 7.45am and didn't see any other person on the trail until we were coming back. Even then, we only saw about 15 people total. Compare that to the dozens you would see at Hanging Lake.
