Itinerary description

Angel Wing. From the Grinnell Glacier trailhead in Glacier National Park up to Grinnell Glacier. Track then continues off-trail, skirting the glacier, and up to the Angel Wing 'summit.' Once reaching the glacial lake, make your way along the edge to the mouth of the outlet stream. Find a good place to cross without getting too wet or cold, and then make your way across the rock beds towards the small saddle to the SW of Angel Wing, working your way down off of the rocks to the grass below. Once at the saddle, you can see that the backside/southern face of Angel Wing is actually a pretty gentle grass slope all the way to the top. Great view of the whole valley... Grinnell Lake, Josephine Lake, Swiftcurrent Lake, Piegan Pass, Grinnell Glacier... beautiful.
