Itinerary description

Ordnance Survey Discovery Series 74. Trail commences off the R639 Mitchelstown to Cahir road. Take the second turn left at 914 179, a couple of hundred metres after the little village of Skeheenaranky (signposted Galtymore Climb). Some parking available at beginning of stoney lane. First part of climb is on a rough stoney path. To your right is a small monument marking the site where a small plane crashed in Sept. 1976. The path gradually gives way to open mountaim. Acending, to your left and way below you will see the teardrop shaped Borheen Lough, followed by Lough Muskry and an unnamed smaller lake. Several steel stakes serve as wayposts to guide you to the trig. point marking the summit of Greenane. Return is by the same rather featureless plateau by which you acended,
