Itinerary description
The usual destination for the visitor to Mount Athos, at the top of the peak , is the The Skete of Saint Anne.
The way to get there from the shortest road is by boat from the harbor of “Ouranoupolis”, at the port of Mount Athos “Daphni”and then again with the "Agia Anna" boat, to “Arsanas” of Skete. From there, after climbing about 300 meters altitude, we arrive at "Kyriako" (main temple) of Skete where “Archontariki” (home hosting) is.
From this point, an uphill hilly trail starts up to the Stavros station for about an hour and a half.
The Athos trail also begins on the location “Cross”, leading first to the Church of “Panagia” that is used as a sanctuary and then to the peak where the great Iron Cross and the Church of “ the Transfiguration of the Savior” are located.
The walk we walked on in two days. On the first day, we stayed at the Skete of “Agia Anna” and on the second day we climbed to the top of Mount Athos.
