Loop trail - It starts along the riverside of the Potomac river, upstream of the Great Falls. It follows the Potomac Heritage trail until the parking lot next to the Riverbend Park boat ramp. Then turns left and starts going up hill on a very comfortable path (two people can go easily side by side). The hike goes back to the Heritage trail by walking down a hill (can be a slippery path if it has been raining the previous days...). The next stop is in the three Great falls overlooks and along the gorge of the Potomac. There are some spots to stop by and take a breath (and a sandwich!). Finally, it goes back to the parking lot along a path parallel to the one we have just left.
