Itinerary description

The trail from the Grand Etang Visitor's Centre to Mt Qua Qua is generally over well made trail although there are some steep, slippery sections and places with significant drop offs each side. Well worth the reward with stunning views over the rain forest clad hills. The trail to Annandale branches off just a few yards before the second (and normally signposted) trail to Concord. The trail starts reasonably well but then descends steeply through razor grass onto a sharp ridge. Can be hard to find the trail - look out for pieces of red/ yellow plastic tied to trees. The final descent to Annandale through large bamboo groves is very steep and slippery. Near the bottom the trail becomes hard to find, but keep descending and very soon you'll come to agricultural land and good tracks out. Descent to Annadale Falls, clean up and a ride home or alternatively (as on this trail) find a track past Annandale Waterworks up to Vendome - there is no alternative from here but return to Grand Etang up the road. A stiff climb!
