Grand Canyon - South Kaíbab trailhead to Bright Angel trailhead

Hiking trail of almost 30km. very hard, done on August 5th, 2018. It's hard due to the extreme heat (up to 48ºC), the ascension/descent (1,500m positive, 1,600m negative) and the duration (about 10 hours without breaks). The trail consists of coming down to the Colorado River from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and going up back to the same Rim. The descent, during 3-4 hours, follows the South Kaibab trail, East of the Grand Canyon Village, seeing different geological strata, millions of years of history. We have chosen to come down through Kaibab trail due to the lack of supplies and sources of water. Down, cross the Colorado River through several metallic bridges, and continue westward, gradually climbing the Bright Angel trail. Along the ascent, there are some points with fountains, such as the Indians Garden (where you can also sink your feet in the river), but it is a long and very tough climb. The views, spectacular in each section. In summary: DO NOT do this route on the same day (many people spend the night at the Phantom Ranch near the river) unless you're in a very good shape. Bring a minimum of 2 liters of water and 1 liter of isotonic drink, in addition to nuts, bananas and wear proper mountain equipment (high boot preferable, leggings for the sand, sticks are highly recommended).

Ruta de senderisme d'una mica més de 30Km. molt dura, realitzada el 5 d'agost de 2018, tan dura per la calor (fins a 48ºC) com pel desnivell (1.500 m. positius, 1.600 m. negatius) i la durada (unes 10 hores sense comptar descansos), que consisteix a baixar fins al riu Colorado des del marge Sud (South Rim) del Grand Canyon. La baixada, d'unes 3-4 hores, segueix el South Kaibab trail a l'Est del Grand Canyon Village, veient diferents estrats geològics, milions d'anys d'història. Hem triat baixar per aquí per la manca d'avituallaments i fonts d'aigua. A baix, es travessa el Riu Colorado per diversos ponts metàl·lics, i es continua cap a l'Oest, pujant poca a poc pel Bright Angel trail. Al llarg de la pujada, hi ha alguns punts amb fonts, com l'Indians Garden (on a més et pots remullar en el riu), però és una pujada llarga i molt dura. Les vistes, espectaculars a cada tram. En resum: NO fer aquesta ruta en el mateix dia (molta gent passa nit al Phantom Ranch a tocar del riu) sinó s'està en molt bona forma. Mínim dur 2 litres d'aigua i 1 litre de beguda isotònica, a més de fruits secs, plàtans i equipament de muntanya (bota alta preferible, polaines per la sorra, bastons molt recomanable).
