Itinerary description

From the town of Vipava (Slo) we quickly reached the Tura camping area (Graisce locality 250 m), where we parked the car (large car park!). After a few meters you will find the explanatory sign of the via ferratas and paths of Mount Tura. To reach the start of the new via ferrata “Otmarjeva Pot” we climbed up to the start of the “Furlanova Pot” via ferrata located at 385 m., from this point we continue to the right, following a partially equipped path which in 15' leads to 'Otmarjeva attack (45' from the stand). The first section of the via ferrata is immediately very steep, equipped with a series of iron steps as supports, with a slightly overhanging passage (which makes changing carabiners a bit difficult!). The route then continues alternating traverses with vertical sections that are always well insured and facilitated by steps and bolts, except for a few stretches where it uses natural holds and supports in the rock with the sole insurance of the steel cable. At the end there is another more challenging stretch with a small overhang and a chimney where you have to take advantage of the natural holds and supports. In just over an hour we reached the end of the equipment, and in about ten minutes of steep trail to the summit cross of Mount Tura, located at 761 m. For the descent we followed the steep path of the normal route, which took us back to the starting point in 1 hour. I found the via ferrata very well conceived, well secured, also taking advantage of the natural structure of the wall, equipped at the steepest points with plastic cones to cushion the friction of the carabiners in the event of a possible slip. In the complex of difficulty "C" (in the difficulty scale of the equipped routes and paths), except for the first stretch and another short one towards the end which can be considered of difficulty "D". Overall height difference (including the approach) 530 m (of the via ferrata alone 235 m with a length of 450 m); total development km.3.6; total time (excluding the stop at the top) 3 hours and 15'; difficulty of the approach and descent path EE.
