Itinerary description

This hike is in the Somenos Land District near Crofton and Chemainus. Enroute to Lower Bannon Creek falls you will be hiking near Big and Little Sicker mountains, named after John J. Sicker an early homesteader in that area. Bannon Creek drains the watershed of Coronation Mountain to the north-west of Big Sicker and empties into the Chemainus River at the Lower Falls.

The trail follows a well kept logging road through pleasant agricultural land and the North Cowichan Municipal Reserve, all in the shadow of Big Mount Sicker. When you arrive at the river you will be rewarded with a view of beautriful Lower Bannon Falls emptying into the river. The falls are most impressive during the rainy season, in the summer this is a popular spot for swimming.

The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an American Volksports Association rating of 1 B.
