GR367 Sentier Cathare Foix //Port Nouvelle

Following the northern route of the trail.

I had seen a post regarding a problem with broken footbridge on the southern section and a large detour so this made my choice for the north route.
Also the starting point at Foix is not accessible as a dispute by land owner..
The trail now starts just above village of Montgailard ..see map .

I hiked the trail camping with tent along the way .
I researched the trail for food supply and cafes ..all looked ok , but on arriving at some of the villages ..the Bar/Cafe/ Boulangeries were shut ..
so not easy to resupply etc..But i was prepared as normal and carried at least 4/5 days of food at all times.

Roquefixade small gite open for food
Monferiere ..closed
Montsejur ..closed
Camurac..small detour 4 km ..snack bar open ( i used the campsite here at les Sapins)
Puivert..snack bar at the lake, no shops
Nebias..small shop
Quillan..shops/bars
Bugerach..closed
Cubiers ..1km north small cafe
Duilhac south of village bar ..no shops
Cucugnan Cafe and small shop
Padern..small cafe (Shut weds )
Tuchan ..closed
Durban super u ..closed 12pm to 3.15 pm
Roquefort ...boulangerie

Camping was ok ..the first half their is much woods and forest ..to find camping spots .
the second half a bit more difficult to find flat ,non stony ground for tent..be prepared to
find a corner in a vineyard.
Water is found all along the rail ..but always carry 2 lts minimum.hot exposed trails on the second half with little shade.

I hike quite long days ..and made the trail in
7 days and 3 hrs on the 8th day .
hiking sometimes 35-40 km a day ,
also take in the southern route that i missed another time

The route i took to get to L,Escale is not well marked and i followed an old GPX route.
so to follow the best route, from Montplaisir to L,Escale there should be a sign directing north to follow the normal GR.
