Itinerary description
19/4/18
From our hotel Peñarrubia in Zaorejas we walked back to the Tajo river through the hills. The last part we followed pistas forestales before hitting the road. We took a left towards the hydroelectrical power plant in the Tajo with really impressing waterfalls.
From there we went up the mountain on a very steep path and dazzling views on another waterfall and later the one we saw before yesterday. The path is not great for people with fear of heights since it’s very high up and steep besides you.
After that we came through a nice hill with pine trees and grazing goats. The hike continued on the road where we saw a sign to a mirador and decided to go there (and leave backpacks down; good choice!). Stunning really stunning views! Even looked down numerous vultures. Had lunch.
We continued on the road (boring) towards Villar de Cobeta. There we found out there was an intersection with GR10 so in fact we did GR113 Camino del Tajo. Crossed the village and continued on the road and later pista forestal which eventually became a goat path. Last 1,5 km very small path steeply going up (quite difficult) towards monastery Buenavista del Sistal where we’re staying for the night. Hope to join the religious life here for a bit tonight and tomorrow morning before leaving.

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.

Crossing GR113 with GR10
Apparently we followed the GR113 (Camino natural del Tajo) and it GR10. We thought this part of the stage the two were the same... Anyway we’re back on track now.
