Itinerary description

In May 2024 I walked most of GR 221 (Sant Elm to Pollença) in 4 days. The 1st two days were very challenging, the 3rd day less so and the last day relatively easy.

This section from Santuari de Lluc to Pollença was fairly easy and short, starting with a small but gradual climb, followed by a steeper and longer descent, finishing with a flat 7-8 km cruise into Pollença. The walking surface is an even mix of dirt track, macadam and pavement.

Santuari de Lluc has two restaurants and a small shop. Pollença has a wide range of service and transport options. Nothing in between.

I decided to finish in Pollença and check out the town, rather than walk to the terminus in Port de Pollença alongside a busy road.

The trail is marked, but I managed to miss a few turns as the old roads and paths intertwine.

The first half of this section is a nice walk in the woods and the second is an easy walk along the valley, but you can still admire the views of the peaks of Sierra de Tramontana all around.
