Itinerary description

This route is the third part of a 10-day hiking trip through the Madrid province, from East to West following GR-10.
This track starts in Bustarviejo and leads you to Soto del Real, passing by Miraflores de la Sierra.
We leave the town of Bustarviejo towards the west and follow a trail at the border of a beautiful pine forest. We climb up a few hundred meters to start a long and slow descent towards Miraflores de la Sierra following the valley.
The entrance to the town is somewhat peculiar. This track follows the official GR route according to FMM, entering the village through a steep and narrow path, but I would recommend to follow the more comfortable path turning left to enter the first urbanization from the south east.
The GR-10 passes the village at the south side, but this track takes you on a little detour to the lower edge of the town centre. Not far off route, though it does make a difference in elevation…
Leaving Miraflores behind, we follow a wide gravel road towards Soto del Real. In front of us we see the first boulders and mountains of La Pedriza appearing.
After passing the reservoir of Palancares ther are only a few kilometers left to reach Soto del Real. The GR-10 turns right before the village. That’s where we will pick up the route tomorrow.
