In Gozo you can walk the coastal path which starts from Mgarr and this is the first stop.
Since I was staying in Għajnsielem, I left here going down a path marked on the official tourism website.
After reaching the coast, in a few minutes I arrived at the salt pans of Xatt l-Aħmar and immediately afterwards at the fougasse, the wells dug into the ground and used to counter the landing of enemies by exploding stones.
The trail is well marked and in about an hour you will arrive at Mġarr ix-Xini tower and beach. To go down you go on a narrow path between the rocks.
The route continues on the concrete road which you leave immediately after the curve to continue to the left on the path which then leads onto an asphalted road.
At the first bend, go right and you will find cultivated fields, but the trail signs are always clearly visible, so you will soon return to the coast, admiring its beauty.
Further on, you go up a dirt road that meets other routes, but there are always red dots that indicate the direction.
Following the dirt road you reach the village of Ta' Ċenċ where you can take a lunch break in the picnic area.
Immediately after in the open space, the trail sign indicates to pass through a gap between a dry stone wall, but here there is the inscription "no entry".
Having no other alternatives, I passed and reached the cliff in a few minutes, always finding the trail signs.
This cliff is 140 meters high and is hard coral limestone at the bottom and softer rock at the top which is smoothed out by the weather.
Here there are many panoramic points to admire it.
Further on you reach the pavement built to allow everyone to admire the cliffs of Sanap Cliffs.
At the end of this stretch, continue on the path following the arrows and red dots which descends towards the tower, passing next to many huts used by hunters.
In this area you see high cliffs and shell fossils in the ground which becomes rocky.
You soon reach the Xendli tower and then descend into the Kantra Valley on a staircase carved into the stone and, after crossing the bridge, you reach the village.
Here you can take the bus back to Rabat.
