Itinerary description
A great full day trail climbing from FS20 (mountain loop highway) to gothic basin, just below basin and del campo peaks. The going is quite strenuous, resembling an appalachian trail more than a cascade one: very steep climb in the forest midway, followed by equally steep climb over rocks and wet creeks. Finally the gothic basin is reached: beautiful glacial lakes in alpine scene. Some north cascade peaks and glaciers are seen in the distance.
