Itinerary description
Amazing hike in Cappadocia, very scenic and diverse. From beautiful rock formations to exploring ancient churches, caves and canyons.
We did a big loop starting from Red Valley car Park - Sunset Spot. You can start from there different much shorter hikes, all will be spectacular.
Visited the Göreme open museum and detoured at the end to see the churches we miss at the start of our hike which were as spectacular if not even more.
Don’t miss especially the Direkli Kilise (Kolonlu church) which looks like a cathedral, you need to go inside and take steps up. May be easy to miss as it’s dark initially and there are no signs.
We ended up with sitting and watching sunset so overall hike took 5.5h (ignore last bit to Ortahisar - last 3.5km, I forgot to switch off Wikiloc when we finished).
