Itinerary description
This is a very well maintained and clear path it's impossible to get lost and there was lots of people on the path in August.
You need to go down hill from the parking. Take the small path on the left it's nicer than the road. It's fairly easy down hill but rocky until about 3/4 of the way in, once you have passed all 3 of the shepard's huts. After the scree slope it gets quite steep before you reach the bottom where you will find the entrance to the gorge. It took us about 1 hour an 15 mins to go down - we took it easy and stopped to take lots of photos and we are quite fit.
At the bottom there are some nice little pools to bath your weary feet. If you go to the left away from the gorge there are more pools and you can go down a bit more where there are a few other little water holes but I guess it depends on the season.
It's 5 euros to enter the gorge. When you go in they explain a bit of information before you enter. It's a lovely little stroll with breath-taking views. You need to climb a little bit but it's nothing crazy.
You go up the way you came down. It took us about 1 hour and 10mins to go back up. We were surprised as it was quite steep especially the first part back to the scree slope. But again we are quite fit and set a good pace only stopping for water 2 or 3 times. There is a bar at the top where you can have a well deserved beer!
